If you've been fruitlessly looking for an inexpensive X Rocker Wireless Kit in the last several months, I have good news for you.
The device is back from the dead.
The kit was discontinued some time ago. Online retailers have all been out of stock for months, and a few “scalpers” have been taking advantage of consumers by selling this normally $15 item on Ebay at upwards of $50 and more!
However, I just had a conversation with someone at Ace Bayou — makers of the X Rocker gaming chairs — and they tell me that the wireless kits are back in stock!
Here's how to order one.
Where To Buy
The X Rocker Universal Wireless Kit is currently available directly from the manufacturer. Send an email to service@acebayou.com with your zip-code and your intention to buy the kit.
The price as of this writing is US $15 plus shipping — which is based on your zip-code/location.
(If you're in a remote location, or outside the US, shipping can become a little expensive.)
UPDATE 2018: Prices for this item have finally evened out as more outlets are carrying it.
Walmart.com is selling the product online as the Ace Bayou X-Series Wireless Retrofit System for about $41.81. Click here to pick it up.
Amazon.com is also selling it for the same price. Click here to check it out.
Read on if you're looking for alternatives to the kit…
What It Is & What It Does
Officially called The X Rocker Receiver Universal Wireless Kit, this kit gives wireless connectivity to non-wireless chairs.
It consists of a transmitter, a receiver, and audio cables. It basically works like this:
- Using the included audio cables, you connect the transmitter to your gaming console (or other audio source), and the receiver to your chair.
- The transmitter wirelessly sends the sound signal to the receiver.
- The receiver interprets the wireless signal back into sound for the chair.
This allows you to put the chair anywhere in the room, without being limited by the length of the audio cables, or cluttering up your floor with them.
Alternatives to the Kit — What You Can Use Instead
Because the Wireless Kit and X Rocker chairs use standard RCA and 3.5mm mini audio plugs, you are not limited to using the X Rocker brand of audio transmitter-receiver combo.
Several options are available online. Many of them, however, will do video as well, so they are more expensive — starting at around $40. (One of the reasons the cheaper X Rocker kit is so in-demand.)
The SainSonic PAT-330 Transmitter & Receiver and the Nyrius 5.8GHz 4 Channel Transmitter & Receiver are two examples of models with decent reviews.
As long as the the model you choose uses the standard audio connections on your chair and gaming console — and it comes with both a transmitter AND a receiver — you shouldn't have any issues.
I hope this helps a lot of you in your search for the X Rocker Wireless Kit. If you have any further questions or comments about the kit, please drop them in the comments below.
