Stop typing in long search phrases like “x rocker pro video gaming chair, wireless, black”. It won't find you anything different than the 2 models I describe here.
There are only two different models of the X Rocker Pro gaming chair available. (Okay, 4 if you count the pedestal version of each.)
They are both wireless, and — to paraphrase Henry Ford about his Model T — you can get either of them in any color you want, as long as it's black.
Yes, X Rocker makes a wide variety of chairs in various colors, feature configurations, and prices.
But, when you're talking about the X Rocker Pro Series gaming chair — their most popular models, with the full lineup of features — then, there are only 2 models you need to think about:
- X Rocker Pro 2.1
- X Rocker Pro H3
Bam. Ok, there they are.
But, what distinguishes the two, and why are they so popular?
The short answer both of those questions is: Sound.
Then there is the pedestal configuration that I mentioned before. But, let me break down their differentiating features, and link you up to where you can buy them.
Sound: 2.1 Stereo vs. 4.1 Surround
The main reason anyone buys an X Rocker chair is for the game-enhancing effects of audio speakers built into the chair — giving you more of a feeling of being “in the game.”
Both versions of the Pro model start with the same main features.
The proximity of your ears to the speakers in the headrest moves the center of the game's audio experience from your video screen to you.
The “.1” in the 2.1 and 4.1 specifications refers to the subwoofer, built into the seat back. This powerful bass-only speaker lets you feel the deeper sounds they way bass is supposed to be felt.
Then, there's the vibrator, or “rumbler”. A motor built into the back of the chair actually shakes the chair and your body to feel things like explosions, bumps, shots, and other impacts in the game.
On the X Rocker Pro H3, there's one added benefit: 4.1 Surround Sound. Two additional speakers are built into the seat of the chair, just forward of your body. This adds more of a 3-dimensional effect to the audio experience, so sound effects in the game can sound like they're coming from the front and back of you, in addition to the left and right.
Pedestal: For the Long-of-Leg
The X Rocker Pro Series Pedestal 2.1 is likely the most popular of the entire X Rocker line.
It's also the iconic image you see on the official X Rocker website, and on most sales and promotional sites on the web.
One feature of this iconic image that gives it its throne-like look is the pedestal that the chair is perched on.
The main advantage of this pedestal, aside from giving it a commanding presence, is height.
Taller people might like the extra legroom this gives them. Others might appreciate the higher eye-level to line up with their video screen — depending on your game set-up, of course.
Both the H3 and 2.1 models of the chair come in the standard on-the-floor rocker version, as well as a pedestal mounted version. You might lose some of the rocking ability with the pedestal version, but you gain the hight, and the ability to adjust and lock the angle in place.
So, with the pedestal versions, you'll get all the same game-enhancing sound features that you're really buying the chair for, with only one small change in the comfort aspect.
Buy them Online
The best place to buy these chairs is online. I recommend three major retailers that have relationships with X Rocker:
- Amazon — Most popular online shopping site.
- Walmart — Largest retailer in the world.
- Wayfair — Online retailer specializing in furniture.
Those links should take you directly to the chairs on each of the websites.
If you'd like some more information on these X Rocker Pro gaming chair options before you buy, read my full review of the X Rocker Pro H3 and the X Rocker Pro 2.1 [review pending] where I will also have direct links to purchase the chair.
I hope this is helpful. Thanks for reading.
